A little known fact about the Big Island of Hawaii is that it is home to twelve distinct climate zones. From the tropical rain forests of Hilo to Ka’u’s arid desert to the snow-capped summit of Mauna Kea. Hawaiian legend tells it that the two deities, volcano goddess Pele and demi-god Kamapua’a, battled over the island. The two eventually struck a deal, dividing the Big Island in two: the dry west side of Kona and tropical east side Hilo.
Next Month, Endurance Conspiracy Ambassador and 2X Ironman World Champion, Tim DeBoom, will be headed back to join his friends at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows on an endurance climate zone adventure. Tim will experience everything from running on the famed Ironman course to skiing on Mauna Kea to surfing at Pinetrees and Banyans..and everything inbetween. It should be interesting to see what locals show up to join Tim on his adventure.
