The Morgul-Bismarck is returning for the 2010 cycling season. The loop is a popular cycling route that was featured in the Red Zinger Bicycle Classic and subsequent Coors International Bicycle Classic from the late Seventies to 1988. The competitive bike race—sure to attract professionals from across the nation—is set on a 13-mile loop and has three notable climbs. The final, mile-long climb is known as “the wall” and features a gradual incline culminating in a twelve percent grade. This circuit race is most famous for the cycling cult classic film from the eighties, American Flyers, starring a young Kevin Costner. The route has remained a popular training route for Boulder locals for the past several years.
The Cycling event will be held on the 25th Anniversary of the film and will include include a time trail on May 28, a circuit race and cycling tour on May 29 and the Morgul Bismarck road race on May 30.
