The 17th Annual Flower Sea Swim one mile open water race was held last week in the Cayman Islands. With over $100,000 in cash and prizes given away and $30,000 cash to anyone who breaks the one mile open water world record, there was some pretty good athletes in attendance. Such world and Olympic champions as Ryan Lochte, Ian Crocker and others were present in hopes of pushing each other to a new world best time.
Coolest of all for open water swimmers and fans worldwide, is that DMS Broadcasting stations were covering the world record attempt live on Saturday. Radio stations were set up at quarter-mile marks along the Seven Mile beach and broadcasted the race live as it unfolded.
