An Australian surf rescue event held recently had a little panicky moment when the water safety crew spotted two sharks following near the lead group. One was a pretty good sized hammerhead – I’ve always known that those guys were out there when we swam and have been lucky enough never to bump into one, but somehow it’s a little different when you see it like this. I always figured they’d be too scared of a big pack of swimmers – looks like they were pretty interested in what all the hub-bub was about. Living in Boulder I’ve had my share of mountain lion and bear sightings, a couple times on less than comfortable terms, but something about bumping into a shark takes it to the next level.
Only a few more weeks til Ironman Australia – Good luck Tim!
