While 1974 didn't start out the way Eddy Merckx wanted - failing to win a spring classic for the first time in his career due to illness, it ended up being one of his most spectacular seasons ever, becoming the only cyclist to ever win the Triple Crown of Cycling - the Giro, the Tour de France and the World Championships all in the same year. He was a true maestro on the bike in '74. We imagine that after crossing the finish line at world's that year, he simply laid his bike down on the ground and lit it up a la Jimi Hendrix.
